Venture intelligence
Evidence standard

Trust the edge,
not the hype.

Every investment, role, founder, and company relationship should answer four questions: who said it, what exactly did they say, when was it observed, and how strong is the evidence?

Evidence ladder

What earns publication

Higher-priority evidence improves confidence, but no source is treated as infallible. Conflicting claims remain visible until resolved.

01

Regulatory record

A public filing or registry establishes only the fields it actually reports. A Form D is an offering notice—not proof that a named investor participated.

02

First-party evidence

A company, fund, or participant names the relationship on its own portfolio, team, press, or announcement page.

03

Corroborated report

Two independent, credible reports agree on a relationship that is not disclosed directly by a participant.

04

Discovery signal

A lead from news, structured open data, or user contribution remains unpublished as fact until it clears verification.

Canonical graph

Entities stay separate

A firm, a fund vehicle, and an individual partner are related entities—not synonyms. Keeping them separate prevents false attribution.

01Firm

The operating investment brand or partnership.

02Fund

A specific legal investment vehicle with its own vintage, mandate, and lifecycle.

03Person

An individual and a time-bounded role at a firm or company.

04Company

A canonical operating entity linked to aliases, domain, legal entities, and founders.

05Financing

The real-world round or transaction—not interchangeable with a regulatory offering notice.

06Evidence edge

A dated relationship with source, scope, confidence, and verification state.

Data lifecycle

From source to profile

  1. 01
    Capture

Store the source URL, publisher, publication date, retrieval time, and source class.

  2. 02
    Extract

Create field-level assertions without silently expanding what the source claims.

  3. 03
    Resolve

Match domains and strong identifiers first; route ambiguous people, funds, and entities for review.

  4. 04
    Publish

Expose the evidence, scope, and caveats beside the resulting relationship.

Primary launch sources

Public records plus first-party verification.

Open data helps resolve identity and discover filings. Named investment participation is published only when a participant or sufficiently strong evidence names it.

Correction standard

Profiles should show what changed and why. Corrections preserve prior assertions, source history, and merge or split decisions. Send evidence-backed corrections to research@sharkmoneyyachtclub.com.
